The following pages describe common interconnects used for professional audio, DJ, Hi-Fi and video connections

Unbalanced

Unbalanced interconnects can also be used for linking professional equipment and normally use 1/4" *TS jack connectors. *Tip, and Sleeve.

An unbalanced lead is a mono connection. For a stereo connection two leads are required.

A regular electric guitar uses an unbalanced 1/4" TS lead.

RCA Phono

RCA phonos are the most widely used connection on today's Hi-Fi systems and DJ gear. It is unbalanced and requires two leads or a twin interconnect for a stereo connection.

Analogue component video and S/PDIF digital signals also use RCA phonos.
